This is kind of a bittersweet post for me. My long time studio coordinator Kelly Gill, who many of you know, is moving to Portland next month. While I am so excited for her and her family for the new experiences they have in store, (plus Kelly can invest in a pair of cute rain boots and actually wear them) I am bummed to see her move away. She has become a friend to me over the past three+ years and it wont be the same without her. The good news is that my clients may still interface with on her some level as we are working to create a role that she can play remotely from Portland, so there is some continuity with album design and management.
But since we remain a busy wedding and portrait studio, I am looking for a new studio assistant who has the following skills and attributes:
- Available 10-15 hours per week at my Scottsdale studio
- Is reliable, dependable and trustworthy
- Ideally has some Photoshop experience (In-Design experience is a big plus!)
- Learns quickly, is organized and conscientious
- Has stellar customer service skills
Studio Assistant Position Overview:
The studio assistant will help execute the day-to-day activities involved with running a photography studio. Serves as client contact and projects a professional, service-oriented face to all existing and potential clients. Fulfills duties related to product production, image processing, client order fulfillment, marketing and public relations and general office management. Confident and comfortable on the phone and in emails; has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Generally this person will help execute on the following tasks:
- Photo editing, color correction, sorting and renaming of photos
- Download, process and ship client orders
- May help with album design, completing changes, and ordering the books
- Create blog storyboards and upload content as needed
- May help with marketing promotions or create some collateral pieces (depending on design experience)
- Help with editorial submissions and the database of published work
- Other tasks as needed
As you can see this particular position is not one requiring any photographer skills. Current photographers are welcome to apply, however it’s certainly not a requirement. If you are interested in working for Jennifer Bowen Photography, please send me an email detailing your past job experience and skills relevant to this position. Please also include your general availability (ie., any days of the week you are NOT available) and any other information you think I would find helpful to know. I will set up interviews with qualified applicants starting this week.
Thank you!
Jennifer

Stefanie Hombach - Wow, such a great opportunity. Would be like the perfect job for me. But sadly I am living in Germany and can’t move. ;-)
All of the tasks you describe are things I am doing “in my freetime” – growing my own photography business.
I hope you will find somebody perfect for this job. I would really love to do it…
Best wishes, Stefanie
